Then it’s a 20 min boat ride in the famous “curiaras” (Indian dug out canoes) along the jungle and admiring the “tepuys” (table mountains). After this short boat ride, we disembark in a small port for a short walk through the jungle to find a few minutes later the Yuri Falls all across the Carrao river. After admiring this fall, another 10 min hike takes us to the Paradisiacal Yuri beach. At this point, the contrasts of the river colors, the thick jungle, the pinky beaches appeal for a total relaxation.
Sapo Falls (CAJ-SAP)

Sapo Falls is famous due to its water curtain. Visitors
walk behind it as in the movies…
The excursion starts at the Canaima Lagoon in “curiaras” (dug-out canoes). Many falls will be seen on the way. After 10 min navigation a short walk through the forest or the savannah, depending on the season (rainy or dry). Sapo Fall is a 20 mt high and 120 mts
wide cascade. In a natural and endless way, nature has made a path along it, irregular but safe. The water fall makes no contact with the visitor but the soaked wind guarantees a good shower. It’s a unique sensation!. Once on the other side of the fall, the view is spectacular, an excellent spot for pictures. Then the excursions continues to the top of the cascade to appreciate its 20 mts fall. From there the color of the Carrao river is impressive. Time for a bath. Return to camp enjoying on the way the Sapito Falls. Same return itinerary.

Here we disembark for another 20 minutes cross country by jeep to the other side of the savannah where again we take our boat for an hour and a half. On the way the forest gallery is impressive with trees and plants in total harmony. The Auyantepuy or Devil’s Mountain (so called by the Pemon Kamaracoto Indians). This formation is the biggest of the park and the world’s oldest. The mountain, during the rainy season (May to November) allows more than 800 falls to drop forming like a big curtain moved by the wind. Some time to relax and take pictures at Happiness well. We take again our “curiara” towards Orquid Island where we’ll walk a little to appreciate the fauna and flora of this magnificent place. Orquids are found mostly during the month of May. Time for a refreshing bath. Picnic lunch. Return to camp not before visiting Sapo Falls (20 mts hight and 120m wide) that will be crossed behind the water curtain. More unforgettable

Again, another 10 minutes crossing by 4x4 to the other side of the savannah to take another boat to continue the expedition up river for an hour and a half. On the way of course an impressive view of the “Auyantepuy” the biggest rock formation of the national park and the oldest in the world, home of the unique Angel Falls!. After reaching orquid island breakfast is organized before proceeding another 15 minutes up the Carrao river to reach the Churum river. We’ll navigate this river for two hours along its meanders, its rapids and rocks, a real spectacle along Devil’s canyon. With good weather, at this point, we’ll have at last the breathtaking view of angel falls and its 1000 mts. Cascade. We’ll then reach base camp of Ratoncito island. A walk to a closer range of Angel Falls is optional. That’s a hike through the jungle a little complicated as there is mud, rocks, ups and downs and many roots. It takes about an hour to find Mirador de Laime. Time to rest and take the pictures, feeling the rain produced by the fall. Return to camp is the same way around. Bathing and lunch. After lunch return on the same rivers but stopping this time at Sapo Falls, a 20 minutes hight and 120 mts wide impressive fall that we’ll cross behind the water curtain. More pictures.
